This university’s existing emergency management plan predated several major changes to campus infrastructure and hadn’t been exercised at full scale in over five years. Securemedy’s Emergency Management division was brought in to rebuild the plan from the ground up and, critically, to actually test it.
We ran a series of tabletop exercises with campus leadership before progressing to a full-scale active-threat drill involving campus police, local fire/EMS, and building coordinators across three major academic buildings. After-action findings led to revised evacuation routing for two buildings and a new mass-notification protocol that’s now part of new-employee onboarding.
